Build over surveys are carried out before and after building work.
From October 2010 Water Utility Companies took over ownership of all the shared sewers.
This has resulted in the need for property owners to provide Build Over Surveys if they are looking to build a conservatory or extension to their property, and it is to be built over, or within 3 meters of a shared sewer.
This is to ensures that:
- There are no defects with the drains that will be concealed by the development
- That any defects are identified and repaired prior to or during building work
- That building works do not cause any damage to the asset short or long term.
